The Los Angeles Lakers spoil the return of Khris Middleton winning on the road 133-129 with Anthony Davis putting on a show scoring 44 points in the statement win. The Lakers improve to to 9-12 while the Bucks fall to 15-6.
In 40 minutes Anthony Davis scored 44 points shooting 18-27 from the field with 10 rebounds and 4 assists. LeBron didn't fall into obscurity in this game backing up Davis's amazing performance with 28 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds of his own. Russell Westbrook was good in this game too recording 15 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds while shooting 6-11 from the field.
This is the best game the Lakers Big-Three have played all year long and they showed out against one of the top teams in the east on the road. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks didn't put on a bad performance. Giannis scored 40 points in this game and Jrue Holiday scored 28 points of his own. Khris Middleton in his return had 17 points and shot 6-11 from the field but still was obviously trying to find his rhythm with this being his first game back since the second round last season.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been an rollercoaster this season, starting off the year 2-10 and looking like they would be at the bottom of the west all season unless they made a monumental trade during the season. Anthony Davis had been struggling, dealing with multiple injuries and consistency issues and it was beginning to seem that it was harder and harder for LeBron James to hold the team together.
Not to mention Russell Westbrook was coming off of the worst season of his career and Lakers fans and NBA had assumed they had seen the last of Westbrooks good years. However the turnaround of the Lakers this year has been nothing short of impressive. Darvin Ham their new coach decided to bench Westbrook for the greater good of the team and since then Westbrook has been playing outstanding basketball.
Anthony Davis was not playing like the top five player we expected after he joined the Lakers. He was expected to take over this team from LeBron and become the primary scoring option on the team. LeBron went down with injury and since then Anthony Davis has been nothing short of amazing and he showed in in this win over the Bucks.
The stars came to play in this game with them all showing out however it was the Lakers bench outperforming the Bucks bench that put them over the top with Russell Westbrook leading that charge. If Anthony Davis can continue to play as dominate as he did tonight, and Russell Westbrook continues to play well off the bench this team with a trade or two could become one of the top teams in the league.
